New Badminton dates for 2011 will avoid Grassroots clash
28 July, 2010
The organisers of Badminton Horse Trials have added an extra day to next year’s event, meaning that Grassroots riders will have finished their cross-country before the elite riders take to the dressage arenas.
Dates for next year’s event had been brought forward to the Easter weekend (22-25 April 2011) to avoid a class with Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.
This change led to some anger from local businesses and tradestand holders.
And the running of the Grassroots Championships during this year’s horse trials caused some feedback from the top riders, some of whom had to ride dressage tests while the lower level riders were out on the cross-country course.
Now the event will run from Thursday 21 April and a future clash between the two levels of competition has been averted.
