William Funnell, born on 10 February 1966, is a highly successful show jumper with over 20 years experience at the top of the sport, having settled on a career with horses at an early age.
He has won over 50 international competitions and represented Great Britain on two European Championships and 32 Nations Cup teams, eight of them bringing home wins.
He recently won his third Hickstead Derby, adding the 2009 title to his previous wins in 2008 and 2006. William's clear round with Cortaflex Mondriaan was the first since 2004.
He is married to British event rider Pippa Funnell (nee Nolan) and they live near Ewehurst, Surrey.
William also runs the Billy Stud with his partner Donal Barnwell, breeding and producing top sports horses.
