Burghley Horse Trials on television during MasterChef finals
18 February, 2009
The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials features on television next Wednesday, 25 February, during the finals of the cooking competition Masterchef.
The three finalists undertake a series of challenges, one of which was held during the three-day event at Burghley last year.
The aspiring chefs spent a day in the pressurised atmosphere of the temporary kitchen of the hospitality suite — a challenge made even more stressful due to the wet and muddy conditions created by last year’s exceptional wet weather.
Their three-course meal was served to 200 guests — riders, owners, sponsors and officials — at Thursday evening’s Event Horse Riders Association dinner.
“Hosting MasterChef was definitely a first for the sport of eventing as well as a unique challenge for Burghley,” said Burghley director Liz Inman.
“Despite the weather, which didn’t make things easy for cooks or cameramen, everyone enjoyed their day — you’ll have to tune in to see what we all thought of the food though! I can’t wait to find out which of the final three talented young cooks is crowned the champion this year.”
Tune into BBC2 at 8pm on Wednesday, 25 February, to see the programme.
