H&H asks: Is Katie Price good for equestrian sport?

“I don’t think everybody is able to identify with Katie Price, especially not traditional dressage women, but commercially she is very good for the sport, attracting people that are outside it. At HOYS, an usher who had worked at the NEC for 30 years said to me: ‘I thought dressage was what Zara Phillips did before that jumping thing — this is the best thing I’ve ever seen here.’”

“It’s lunacy to think Katie Price is an example of a good rider, and she should not be promoted as such. But if she encourages just one child to become interested in equestrianism — the popularity of which has dipped during my lifetime — that can only be a good thing. The horseworld should be one big family and welcome anyone who wants to be part of it with open arms.”
