Memorial fund for Barlow master Anne Wilson
30 April, 2009
The Barlow hunt has set up a fund in memory of senior joint-master Anne Wilson who died following a fire on 17 April.
Miss Anne, as she was known to Barlow followers, died after fire broke out in the caravan where she lived.
She was pulled from the blaze by amateur whipper-in Chris White, but died later in Chesterfield’s Royal Hospital.
Miss Wilson, 89, had been master of the Barlow since 1988, following in the footsteps of family members, back to 1878.
Her funeral takes place at 2.30pm on Wednesday, 6 May, at St Swithin’s Church, Holmesfield.
A spokesman for the hunt said they would be taking a collection in her memory, with part of the proceeds going to the Injured Jockeys Fund and the rest to create a memorial to Miss Anne at the hunt kennels in Horsley Gate.
An inquest into her death was opened and adjourned on 21 April by the Chesterfield coroner.
Contributions should be made to Barlow Hounds and sent to Mrs V Ferrol, Twitch Nook, Ashover, Derbyshire. S45 0DE
