Alex Hua Tian’s diary: getting fit for Badminton Horse Trials
1 April, 2010
It has been a quiet week this week! It’s nice to have the odd weekend off throughout the season to take stock of how the horses have gone and to make plans for the competitions in the near future.
My Badminton rides, Maggie (Magenta) and Jeans (pictured), can’t wait for Burnham Market, just around the corner. It’s the first three-star of the season and although we will be running competitively, I need to have Badminton in the back of my mind.
With Badminton only four weeks away, they are now both on a four-day galloping regime and are really starting to lean up and feel very fit indeed.
Maggie, especially, struggles for energy and so is on four feeds a day of Pure Condition and Pure Racing! She’ll need all the help she can get to reach the 12th minute marker and make it up those Beaufort Steps. Jeans, however, is never lacking in energy, but we have put him on four feeds as well to keep him looking in the best condition.
I hope everyone has a great Easter!
Alex
