Chepstow Horse Trials cancelled for 2009 due to work at racecourse
13 February, 2009
Chepstow Horse Trials will not run this year because of work at the racecourse where the event is held.
Organiser, Hannah Matthews said, “Sadly, a significant scheme of works undertaken by Chepstow racecourse in Piercefield Park has made it impossible to run in 2009.
“We remain committed to maintaining both international and national competition at Chepstow Horse Trials, which will return in 2010, with a new early summer date.”
Chepstow was due to run from 4-7 June this year with one-day classes from BE90 to open intermediate. It also usually hosts a CCI*, including the under-18 national championships, and the Welsh Championships at intermediate novice level.
Hannah added: “This is really very unfortunate and we are most disappointed not to be able to run this season, particularly given all the effort that the whole team has put into the event over recent years.
"However, we do fully understand that the racecourse was compelled to carry out the work concerned.”
