British Eventing (BE) has launched a series of training competitions to help riders into affiliated competition.

Training trials were held at two events last year and proved so popular that BE has rolled the series out at eight different competitions across the UK.

The dressage is described by BE director of sport Mike Etherington-Smith as "not too daunting" and jumps are no higher than 80cm. The series has also attracted a sponsor, Tri-zone.

Mr Etherington-Smith said: "The Tri-zone training classes are to encourage competitors to take that first step onto the eventing ladder in a safe and fun environment."

The series starts on 24 May at Scotsborn, followed by Ascott-under-Wychwood 1 (1 June), Ascott-under-Wychwood 2 (12 July), Stafford 2 (20 July), Little Mattingley (26 July), Pullborough (5 October) and West Wilts (20 September).

Mike Etherington-Smith added: "People can be assured of high-quality courses and well-run events which are under BE rules."

In addition, BE is offering £10 day tickets for new horse and rider competitions. For more information visit www.britisheventing.com
