Young show jumper found dead at Cavan International
7 November, 2008
Promising young Irish show jumper Benny Kuehnle was found dead at Cavan EquestrianCentre this morning (7 November).
The circumstances surrounding the death of the 20-year-old rider are not being treated as suspicious.
In August this year, Benny won the E10,000 Tiffen Developments young rider final, billed as the most lucrative class of its type in Europe, with Cruisings Micky Finn at Mullingar EC in Co Westmeath, his home county.
Benny was stable jockey to top Irish show jumper Edward Doyle, under whom he had started to record good international wins, including at The Northern Ireland International Horse Show (H&H, 30 October).
Irish young rider chef d'equipe John Ledingham said: " Benny was one of the most gifted young riders in Europe. Words cannot express the shock all of us in the sport are feeling at this news."
