The European CIC** Team Championship was formerly known as the Rural Riders European Championship. It is run every two years for riders at the pinnacle of their riding club career and is funded by British Riding Clubs along with sponsorship from TriZone Boots and British Eventing.

The squad consists of a team of six and two individuals. As well as the normal phases of a horse trials, the team have to ride a team dressage test with all the horses in the arena at the same time.

The championship was last held in September 2007, in Sweden, when Britain just missed out on a team medal in fourth. Nessie Lambert and Carnaval Jester were best of the Brits in 11th. Germany took team gold and all the individual medals.

The Team GBR selection committee comprises Sir Robert Hayman-Joyce (chairman), Nick Turner, Richard Waygood and Peter Buist. Selection is subject to continued soundness and performance.
