HEROS, (Homing Ex Racehorses Organisation Scheme) was founded in July 2006 by Grace Muir and is based at North Farm Stud, Fawley, Wantage, Oxon. Every year many racehorses leave the sport due to injury, old age or lack of ability and are therefore looking for homes after their retirement from racing. Grace knew that there was scope to give the versatile ex-racehorses a second chance in new and different careers. By using already proven methods of re-schooling and the reputation she had built up prior to the Charity, HEROS aims to re-home up to 100 ex-racehorses a year. They have built on those methods and have an extremely good reputation for matching the right horse to their new carer and settling them into their new lives.
