STRIKING BE/RC SCHOOLMASTER
Isle of Wight,
- Connemara (part-bred)
Have a Go Hero aka Bertie, is a 15yr old, 14.1, cremello event pony. He has been a much loved member of our family for the past 3 and a half years. I have made the heartbreaking decision to sell him as I have outgrown him, and am moving onto horses.
Bertie is a confidence-giving schoolmaster who has taught me everything I know. In the past 3 and a half years he has taken me up to BE100. I have competed him mainly at BE90 and we have also done many riding club events (in which we have had lots of placings and wins). Bertie loves to jump, and is a complete xc machine, jumping anything you put in front of him. He is also a very careful showjumper. Bertie’s dressage is very consistent with scores usually in the high 20’s and low 30’s. Bertie was one of few ponies to qualify for the British eventing amateurs dressage championships in 2015 at Blenheim palace, where he produced a beautiful test of 30.5. Bertie is very easy to handle on competition days (on the ground and ridden). He does not get fazed by buzzy atmospheres, or busy collecting rings. He loves the atmosphere of shows and really steps up to the game being the true professional he is.
Bertie has particularly excelled at riding club events. He has qualified for championships every single time. Bertie and I won nationally at the BRC FOTH junior pairs challenge in 2015 and 2016 we went on to come 7th in the BRC intermediate dressage championships doing an elementary test. This was the second time I had ever done an elementary test (the first being in the qualifier!).
On top of his abilities, Bertie is a lovely “person”. He is a very genuine, honest pony who is full of character. He doesn’t have a bad bone in his body. He truly lives up to his show name “have a go hero” as he tries his absolute best in everything he does, and always helps his rider out. Bertie is snaffle mouthed in all disciplines. He is 100% to shoe, catch, load, travel and has no vices. The one thing Bertie does not like is being clipped. He is not naughty, just scared - for this reason we have him sedated.
Bertie would happily drop down a few levels to bring to another ambitious rider up to BE90 as he did with me. Equally I think Bertie would be an excellent pony club pony as he has done very well at riding club. He is a true allrounder and can turn his hand to anything.
This is an absolutely heartbreaking sale of my pony of a lifetime so 5* homes only. £6750
