Welcome to Kentford Farm Stud
Situated in 150 acres of countryside on the Hampshire / Wiltshire border with 25 stables and 4 large barns, Kentford Farm Stud offer horses a quiet and peaceful environment.
With over 20 years experience in the thoroughbred and racing industry, Mike and Caroline started Kentford Farm Stud in 2001 and continue to go from strength to strength.
We offer a range of services and facilities at Kenford Farm Stud including:
Stabling (25 boxes, 5 weaning boxes & 5 large barns), safe and secure post and rail paddocks or high quality mains electric fences, breeding facilities, examination stocks, exercise and more.
Livery
We offer full or part livery to suit you and your horse's requirements which can include year round turn out, stabling and exercise if required. Our facilities allow us to cater for all types of horses including:
Youngstock
Youngsters are handled daily with stable and turnout provided during the winter. Handling includes leading, grooming, picking out hooves and hosepipe training.
Retirement
We can provide a safe and quiet retirement for your older or injured horse or pony and can take care of any special additional medical requirements.
Difficult horses
Our staff are experienced in the handling of difficult horses and youngsters which we can take for a period of handling or on a more permanent basis.
Special care requirements i.e. post operative or requiring rehabilitation following injury etc.
Our large, clean and airy barns and stables provide larger areas suitable for horses and mares and foals on box rest on clean straw or shavings. We can manage any special medical requirements for injured or post operative horses. We can provide restricted exercise in our small nursery paddocks or horse walker.
Brood Mare Livery
We can manage all stud aspects for your brood mare on full livery, including inducing early seasons with artificial lighting etc., walk-in to UK stallions within 120 mile radius, foaling, mare and foal livery and weaning. We use Endells Veterinary Group to carry out all associated veterinary procedures i.e. scanning, swabbing, artificial insemination etc. We have excellent rates of conception and carrying pregnancies to full term.
Weaning
Our weaning procedures and boxes are designed to minimise the stress to your foal. Either or both mare and foal can remain with us during weaning. Weanlings and youngsters and handled daily.
Foaling
Our large foaling boxes are equipped with heat lamps and CCTV for 24 hr supervision. We closely monitor your mare throughout gestation, during and after foaling. Our small nursery paddocks are suitable for restricted exercise often necessary for the new born foal, or we can turn out with other suitable mares with foals of a similar age.
Fostering
Our facilities allow us to take orphaned foals and manage the fostering process with a foster mare or hand rearing to meet your requirements.
Sales preparation
We specialise in all sales preparations including mares, foals and yearlings. Sales preparation includes feeding, handling, exercise and management regimes to maximise sales potential. Sales are consigned by ourselves or Paul Thorman at Trickledown Stud.
Paddocks
All paddocks are safe and secure with post and rail or high quality mains electric fences. We have sizes ranging from smaller nursery paddocks for horses needing restricted exercise to larger ones for older mares, foals & youngstock and older horses. Small numbers are grouped together in each paddock.
Breeding
Large foaling boxes equipped with CCTV.
Foaling alarms.
Experienced, dedicated staff on site 24 hours a day.
Close proximity to veterinary clinic.
Deep high quality straw bedding.
Own horsebox for transporting mares to stud.
