Young event rider Alice Pearson is the latest to join the Performance Rider Programme run by equestrian company Shires.

Alice, 22, receives a number of Shires products and substantial discounts as part of her sponsorship for the 2010 season.

The Herefordshire-based rider finished 6th at Bramham CIC*** and 29th at Blenheim CCI*** this season. She has six event horses at her base in Bromyard, including the advanced Beau Bear and intermediate Whatever You Want.

“It’s exciting to be sponsored by such a leading bran that I can enjoy working with,” said Alice.

The rider has also been selected for a regional talent-spotting squad run by the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) and Sport England.

The West Midlands Regional Foundation Squad aims to identify riders between the ages of 16-24 to show the potential to progress to international sporting success.

“I’m honoured to have been selected on the squad and feel the training will really help me get the results I want,” said Alice.

Rhea Freeman, marketing manager for Shires, added: “Alice is a talented rider and really one to watch for 2010 and beyond!”
