Riders in Herefordshire could have more opportunity to compete thanks to the enthusiasm of the new owners of Bromyard Equestrian Centre.

Gerry King and her daughter Caroline took over the centre from previous owners Dave and Vicky Evans on Monday (23 November). They have renamed the centre Kings Equestrian, Bromyard.

“We do want to expand, but we will announce the details of our plans in the New Year,” said Gerry.

“As we only officially took over on Monday, at the moment we are just settling in and over Christmas we will go with the flow and follow the current show schedule.”

The centre boasts impressive facilities, including 60x30m indoor and outdoor arenas, a viewing gallery and a coffee shop, and hosts a huge variety of events, including unaffiliated and affiliated dressage and show jumping, horseball and training clinics.

The centre, which has recently been approved as a training centre for 2012, also has a popular following outside of the equestrian world, running dog shows and regular football training evenings.

Principally an events venue, there are only seven stables at the complex, which will primarily be occupied by Gerry and Caroline’s horses, and three liveries.

In addition, Gerry, a judge for pony club and riding club events, will run her Equi-trek Trailer business from Kings Equestrian.

“I used to run the trailer business, previously called Lea Equine Trailers, from Lea Garage, but I’m now going to base everything at Kings Equestrian.”
