Rodrigo Pessoa – The Making of a Champion
15 January, 2008
Horse Magazine reviews the new DVD from Equestrian Vision, Rodrigo Pessoa – The Making of a Champion
A must for Rodrigo fans, but fantastic viewing for everyone, this DVD will be hugely inspiring to young riders with dreams and ambition to make it big. It charts the story of the leading show jumper from his early days growing up in the horse world, through to his unique successes in international competition.
Offering access to early footage of Rodrigo on ponies at his French home, and progressing to him joining the Brazilian team in the 1992 Olympics at the age of 19, the story brings us up to date with Rodrigo's recent successes.
Rodrigo briefly introduces the DVD from the setting of his stables, and then a cheesy American voiceover takes the lead commentary, which does start to grate by the end of the 47 minutes.
Despite this, the DVD provides a brilliant insight into the man underneath the riding hat and his philosophy in the words of those who know him best. But it would have been good to have more from Rodrigo himself.
