Horse & Hound reviews The Horse and Pony Care Bible by Carolyn Henderson & Karen Coumbe
This is a comprehensive book, covering all aspects of looking after equines, starting with whether you are really ready to own one.
Its many sections include tack and rugs, feeding, grooming, fitness, health, ailments, travelling and competition.
It's an attractively laid out manual, with plenty of boxed items and expert quotes which are easy to dip into, as well as colour photos. Sub-heads and bullet points make it simple to navigate, as well as a useful contents section and a full index.
An ideal Christmas present for anyone starting out in horses, this is one for both experienced horse owners and novices to keep on the shelves and refer to again and again.
