HORSE Magazine reviews Horses by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Jean-Louis Gouraud

The internationally acclaimed French photographer, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, has returned to his roots with this 330-page volume.

Originally a photographer of animals, he subsequently became interested in aerial photography, winning plaudits around the globe with his spectacular 'The Earth from the Air' series of photographs.

Horses is a lot less ambitious, but still contains some beautiful images of breeds from all around the world. A handsome, coffee-table book, it is great to dip into, but Jean-Louis Gouraud's text is also informative. The passages on the less well-known breeds are fascinating and I think readers will enjoy this book for more than just its striking images.

I kept chopping and changing when trying to decide what my favourite image in the book was. However, one of the Lusitano (plate 85) models is really quite breathtaking.
