Meet Oliver Townend

  • Horse: Flint Curtis, 10yo 17hh chestnut gelding

    Age: 23

Championship experience: Oliver made his senior squad debut as an individual at the European Championships at Blenheim last year.

    Recent form

Oliver announced his arrival at four-star level with an impressive Badminton debut in May 2005, completing a clear round cross-country within the time to finish in 12th place with Topping. He hit the headlines once again at the Festival of Eventing at Gatcombe Park, finishing first and second in the British Novice Championship with Best of Spirits and Haveray Park Beau.

Oliver’s 2005 eventing statistics are amazing – 271 eventing starts, 177 top 10 placings, including 47 wins, to accumulate a grand total of 1126 points. He finished second in the top 100 riders, narrowly beaten by William Fox-Pitt.

His impressive run of form has continued into 2006, where he was the highest placed British rider at Badminton in third. He was also placed sixth at Barbury Castle three-star. This certainly is a man on a mission.
