H&H exclusive: Do horses lead to divorces?


  • Does the arrival of a pony in the heart of the family herald the beginning of the end of a marriage?

    Journalist Elizabeth Walton has canvassed opinion from parents and experts. She says: “The story begins: ‘Daddy, I want a pony’. If the child watches carefully from the moment the equine is unloaded, she will spot its innocent velvet nostrils slowly sucking the air from her parents’ marriage.”

    Phillip Cooper of City law firm Silverman Sherliker, says: “Friction is caused when the husband gets to the end of the working week to find his wife and children are going off all weekend competing, and he’s left stranded and excluded.”
