Help rescues at a family day out

  • The ILPH’s summer show is packed with entertainment for all the family, including a £5,000 Grand Summer Draw

If you fancy a great day out then look no further than the International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH) Summer Show in Norfolk on Saturday 22 June, which includes the charity’s £5,000 Grand Summer Draw.

Held at Hall Farm in Snetterton, the main ring displays are headlined by stunt team, The Horsemen of Apocalypse [pictured], who have featured in numerous television programmes and films, including Sharpe, Sleepy Hollow, Merlin and Jason and the Argonauts.

Based around the four riders of legend – Death, Famine, Pestilence, and War – the team’s fabulous array of breathtaking stunts on horseback never fails to amaze.

Also entertaining the crowds will be Britain’s smallest native ponies who will be vying for a place in the prestigious Shetland Pony Grand National finals at Olympia with their young jockeys.

Other main ring entertainment will include The Kings Troop demonstrating their tent pegging skills, a display by the West Yorkshire Mounted Police, a birds of prey exhibition by Banham Birds of Prey, and displays of western riding and Parelli natural horsemanship.

For competitive riders there are 83 affiliated and unaffiliated showing classes, including a class for the best ILPH horse or pony, plus 18 championships being held in the adjacent horse show.

The dog show will feature showing classes and demonstrations of agility and flyball, with opportunities for owners to sample the fun with their own dogs.

The day also includes opportunities for visitors to enjoy a guided tour of the farm and find out more about the ILPH’s rehabilitation work with rescued horses and the charity’s farriery, harness making and horse management courses in developing countries.
