German dressage team for WEG confirmed

  • The German dressage team for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky combines the experience of Isabell Werth, with some newer combinations who contested the CHIO at Aachen earlier this year.

    The squad includes:

    • Isabell Werth, riding Satchmo or Warum Nicht FRH
    • Anabel Balkenhol, riding Dablino
    • Matthias Alexander Rath, riding Sterntaler Unicef
    • Christoph Koschel, riding Donnperignon

The reserve combinations are Hubertus Schmidt and Donnelly, Matthias Alexander Rath and Triviant and Carola Koppelmann and Le Bo. German dressage chef d’equipe is Holger Schmezer.

Isabell Werth said of the team selection: “I am sure that Christoph and Annabel will do a really good job [in Kentucky]. Christoph surprised everybody with the improvements that he has made over the last few months, and his horse has huge potential. He had extra pressure on his shoulders riding as the first team rider at Aachen, but he performed well and will now just grow in confidence.”
