Dressage riders head for Germany

  • Top British dressage riders Nicola McGivern (pictured) and Laura Richardson will be competing against some of the world’s top names at the CDI Hardenberg Klassica in Norten-Hardenberg, Germany (22-25 May).

This elite European dressage meeting will provide exciting sport of the very highest level with the best riders from throughout Europe and America taking part.

Nicola will be riding Active Walero, who was second in grand prix at the recent Addington Manor Premier League show, while Laura, who was granted dispensation from the senior selection at Addington, will be on board Millenium.

Nicola and Laura have both been long-listed for the British team at the 2003 European Dressage Championships at Hickstead in August and a good performance in Germany would certainly help their chance of selection.

They will be competing against a strong German squad, including current No.1 dressage rider in the FEl rankings, Ulla Salzgeber (Wall Street), gold medal winner at last year’s World Equestrian Games,Nadine Capellmann (Farbenfroh), and former Olympic dressage champion, Isabell Werth.

The competition will also see WEG silver medallists Beatriz Ferrer Salat and Beauvalais in action for the first time this year, while the American squad includes Lisa Wilcox (Relevant) who was fifth individually at WEG.

Other top riders taking part include Jan Brink, Ellen Schulten Baumer and Kyra Kyrklund.
