Dog hotel offers five-star care

  • The first complete care resort for dogs has been opened

If you never really enjoy your holiday because you’re concerned about the canine best friend you’ve left behind, a holiday centre in Newcastle may have the answer.

Among the many facilities it is offering is a web cam so that owners can keep a check on their pets.

The centre also offers hours of fun for canine guests, who enjoy 24-hour attention – long walks, use of the hydrotherapy pool, agility or flyball training.

The Triple A resort, owned jointly by PetCARECo and the food company Mars, says it wants to establish a branded chain of “one-stop” pet care centres across the country, each providing all the services pet owners need to help them look after their pets at one place.

A new centre is expected to open in Leeds in the second half of 2002.

We offer a level of care which is as good as or better than the pet would get at home, ” said marketing manager Ken Blackburn.

“Some people travel the length of the country to leave their animals with us. They trust us with their pets.”

Among other services at the centre are a veterinary hospitaland owner education classes.

The centre also offers a day creche service for working or shopping pet owners and will also take some dogs on a lifetime basis.

The resort can board up to 150 dogs with the average cost £15 per night.
