Coloured stallions make the grade

  • Uptons Deli Circus, the only coloured advanced eventing stallion registered with British Eventing, is now standing at stud.

Registered and graded as an elite stallion with the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (CHAPS), the 13-year-old skewbald already has an impressive performance record and will be aimed at three-star competitions this year.

Uptons Deli Circus and his rider, Racheal Thompson, are based with British Eventing’s head of training Richard Carruthers. The stallion will combine stud work with competitions during the 2003 season.

    Making the grade

A French coloured stallion was the undisputed champion at this year’s CHAPS grading which was held at South View EC, Cheshire.

Irondeau De Pichatier, a six-year-old bay tobiano Anglo Arab X Selle Francais stallion, flew through the grading to take the title.

Seventeen horses passed the grading, including a Shetland, a native type, five traditionals, a part-bred Arab, five warmbloods, two hunters and two sport horse stallions.
